Guaranteed Funeral Deposits Of Canada (Fraternal) was established in 1961 as a not-for-profit, self-funded organization founded by a group of Funeral Directors  These directors felt there was a need for an independent organization to administer, invest and report on prepaid funeral service funds and to provide funding options to keep its members competitive and up to date with legislation GFD is licensed by the Financial Services Commission and overseen by a Board of Directors consisting of 12 volunteer licensed funeral directors who are in tune with the changing needs of the Canadian Funeral Profession.
